How does every product you use, affect your health on every level possible?

Well, If you're reading this, it’s probably because you have made the decision to maintain a healthy and sustainable lifestyle and want to learn more how you can do so.

From general exercise and fitness programs to eating healthier by choosing organic foods, many people are more proactive in improving their lifestyle nowadays.

One step in this effort includes choosing the right skincare products, which is our topic today.

In this blog, I will focus on talking about nurturing soaps, and explain the benefits of investing in the best products, and the harmful side effects of using mass produced soaps.

Well, before going any further, I want to make sure one point stays clear in your mind as you go through this blog.

Did you know that skin is the largest organ in your body? That’s right.

The skin and its derivatives (hair, nails, sweat and oil glands) make up the integumentary system. One of the main functions of the skin is protection. It protects the body from external factors such as bacteria, chemicals, and temperature.

The skin's main layers include the epidermis, dermis and hypo-dermis and is prone to many problems when it constantly harsh chemicals. This  includes skin cancer, acne, wrinkles and rashes.

Long story short, what you put on your skin is as important as what you ingest through your digestive tract, and this is why choosing organic natural skin products as well as cleaning products is crucial for maintaining a healthy body and mind.

Research shows that toxins are absorbed in large quantities through human skin. Hence, if you want to minimize the toxic substances you and your family encounter every day, you might want to consider switching to organic soaps.

Unlike ordinary soaps that are typically made of synthetic chemicals, organic soap is made up of natural ingredients or ingredients acquired from organic living organisms, primarily plants that can be used to make essential oils.

Organic soaps offer various benefits; here are 7 surprising benefits of organic soap you probably do not know about.

* Glycerin Rich Soap for Soft and Shiny Skin *

Organic soaps are healthier for your skin as the natural ingredients in them help to hydrate, moisturize and cleanse your skin naturally. One of the benefits of using real soap is that one of the by-products of the production process is glycerine. Glycerine is an excellent skin moisturizer because it attracts moisture to itself in and around the skin and has been used for hundreds of years!

Glycerine or glycerol is a natural water and alcohol attractant found in soap. It was also found to help alleviate skin diseases. It can improve skin texture and strengthen its natural barrier to resist environmental irritants. Glycerine has gentle and soothing properties, making it suitable for sensitive skin as well.

In contrast, mass-produced soaps usually undergo a process designed specifically to remove the glycerine in order to preserve their shelf life. This also makes the soap a bit cheaper, but the additional cost is worth it as soap devoid of glycerine can leave your skin dry, ashy, itchy and looking far from its best.

* No harmful ingredients - Only Medicinal Ones *

Fake soap contains one or more harmful ingredients, including petroleum-based foaming agents, synthetic fragrances and preservatives and harsh dyes or colourants.

They are known to regularly contain Parabens, Sulphates, and Triclosan, which are thought to trigger allergies, to influence hormone levels, and possibly increase risk of some cancers. You want to avoid those at all costs and completely get rid of any products that contain them at home.

Depending how heavy the chemicals are in the products you consume, but it usually takes a few weeks for your nervous system to fully reset and cleanse from them.

* Loaded with Antioxidants *

Wait, what are antioxidants?

Antioxidants are basically substances that help protect the skin's surface from oxidative damage caused by free radicals and environmental aggressors like pollution.

The good news is that organic soap manages to retain its antioxidants properties from the high quality ingredients used. Antioxidants help repair your skin, keep it fresh and youthful by reducing inflammation and increasing hydration. High antioxidants content in natural soaps also help  slow down the ageing process.

Moreover, the organic soap’s pH level is between nine and ten, which means that it is gentler on your skin and makes the skin less irritated.

* Natural Antibacterial, Antiviral, and Anti-fungal Properties *

Remember the ingredients I mentioned to avoid? Those are the typical antibacterial ingredients that are used in commercially produced soaps, such as triclosan, parabens, sulphates and other toxic chemicals.

These substances can increase the risk of certain cancers, unbalance human hormones, and affect reproductive function. Organic soaps that use natural antibacterial agents, such as essential oils like tea tree, lavender, lemongrass, and eucalyptus, do not produce similar harmful effects.

Aside from their antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties, they also smell delicious and these natural oils give off aroma-therapeutic scents.

* Organic Soap is Cruelty-free *

If you are concerned about animal welfare, organic soap would be perfect for you. Animal testing is not performed during the soap’s production process, and its ingredients hardly include animal fat.

Rather, organic manufacturers rely more on plant extracts and botanical herbs to accomplish their goals.

Coconut and olive oils are used as base oils and combined with other essential oils extracted from various flowers, plants, fruits and spices.

Still, some natural soaps may use ingredients like tallow or lard. You can check the label if you want to avoid them. Moreover, since organic soap does not contain chemicals and pesticides, it is unnecessary to test them on animals, making it free of animal cruelty!

* Reducing Waste with Every Bar *

Since Organic soaps only contain natural ingredients, they do not dispose of toxic waste in the environment. Also, they break down easily after being washed away, which makes them harmless to waterways.

They make the perfect nourishing, free of harmful substances, and biodegradable product to use on your skin.

* Unique, Handmade Product *

Health or cost focused? Well, we all know that mass-produced commercial products are made for efficiency of production, which means many, many, units of the exact same size and composition.

Focus is on profit, often at the expense of the health of the consumers who pay for them. Organic bars are different in that they do vary slightly from bar to bar, just as natural ingredients vary slightly depending on a given year’s weather and other conditions.

Where they do not vary, however, is in the lack of harmful ingredients and the abundance of healthy ones that are in each bar.

I hope this was beneficial for you to read and consider switching to products that contain only natural ingredients for the sake of your well being, and the health of all those around you.
